Palin is an Abuser

Tonight, numerous news agencies are reporting that Governor Sarah Palin abused the power of her office to fire a personal enemy. She violated a statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act when she fired her sister's ex-husband.

Damn the witchcraft! Perhaps Palin should blame that preacher from 2005 for not blessing her well enough against witchcraft. She's just a simple, moose killin' hockey mom - she doesn't have time for little things like readin' newspapers, teachin' the birds and the bees, answerin' questions, and ethics.

Will the results of this bi-partisan committee have any impact on the election?

Best regards,
Jay

Jay - she didn't fire her ex-brother in law - she fired the Public Safety Commissioner, Monegan.  I read a lot of the 263-page report (not news articles).  According to the actual report, they felt she was lawful in her decision to reassign him and that they felt his not firing Trooper Wooten may have influenced her decision, but this had to be inferred from testimony and evidence because they did not actually interview Governor Palin.  I read the entire explanation as to how it was concluded that she abused power and basically it was because of her inaction to stop her husband from continuing to pursue the firing of Wooten.

It's all over for McCain. He might as well call it a day.

As for Palin, she should go back to Alaska where she should be impeached.

I guess it's all about your judgment and who you associate yourself with.  After all, we just want to hear the truth and want people to answer the questions being asked of them.   At least that's what Palin so eloquently asked of us.  Gee wiz, I guess we shouldn't apply the same standards to everyone.  Right Sarah?

... I've been reading a lot about Obama, "he's an Arab".  Golly gees, if people actually turned off Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanity, and Bill O'Reilly, you wouldn't have so many uniformed, angry, hate spewing individuals.

Oh well, I guess it's hard to blame these people, they're just following their leaders.  If you wan't the control, get it at any cost.  Scare the uniformed and get rid of those who seem to get in your way.

I would find this report a bit more convincing if the head of the legislative investigation had not promised an October surprise and basically stated in August that she would be found guilty. Their is currently another investigation by a non-political agency still going on into the matter. This one should probably have a bit more credibility.

Posted by Mike Saunders (Keller Williams Realty - Greater Athens) about 1 year ago

Morning Jay,  You got the pot noiling pretty well !  I laughed when a Republican mouthpiece goes on the morning news and says the report completely exonerates her and that it is biased because they didn't interview Paris Hilton  Sarah Palin !!  All this negative stuff is having a negative effect on McCain.  Shouldn't we be helping them fall on their own knife ?

Jay - it is the state agency that investigates employment complaints and issues, the agency that is tasked with this kind of thing.

Ha Ha, Palin is still the most popular candidate on both tickets, and liberals want to replace her. Tell me that after the elections when McCain and Palin are the winners. I will betcha, any takers?

Posted by Nicholas Goglucci, PA. (RE/Max ParkCreek) about 1 year ago

Mike, thanks for the specifics.

Nicholas, are you stuck in early September? Her approval rating has plummeted. At the moment, her supporters are a bit like the supporters of O.J. Simpson - in denial.

(CNN) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin denied Saturday that she had abused her power as Alaska's governor, a conclusion reached by a state investigator in a report released the day before.

Sarah Palin is still denying any wrongdoing, claiming the Report does not find she violated ethics rules.

"If you read the report, you will see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member," Palin said as boarded her campaign bus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "You got to read the report."

Is the woman delusional, or plain stupid? (or maybe both?)

Posted by Stewart Penn - Los Angeles Condo Specialist (Penn Properties ) about 1 year ago

The sentence - You got to read the report. - spoken by an athlete is acceptable, but spoken by a candidate for VP is pathetic.

Posted by Jay Allen - MovieVoice (MovieVoice Production Co.) about 1 year ago

Jay ~ Yeah, you are not the person to tell me I am in denial...lol

Posted by Nicholas Goglucci, PA. (RE/Max ParkCreek) about 1 year ago

It is doubtful this report will change the minds of anyone, including those that are undecided.  Most Americans are intelligent enough to know that a report like this, rushed out just weeks before a national election, is a witch hunt.

Posted by Hope Goss Ventura Real Estate (Ventura Property Shoppe) about 1 year ago

Jay - I think Nicholas and his fellow Palin supporters think that "denial" is a river in Egypt!

Hope - Talk about a "witch hunt" .... what do you think Palin is doing trying to claim that Obama pals around with terrorists?

Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska's governor by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police, a state investigator's report has concluded.

Exactly what part of this statement don't Republicans understand?

Although, debate and constructive criticism is welcomed profanity is not. This is NOT a politically correct group. You've been warned. Stay on topic. No advertising is permitted on this group. The posts topics must conform to the above. Since, conservatives believe in preserving the rights of individuals we welcome our liberal friends with open arms to our group.

It's always easier to delete/ignore posts with which you disagree, it takes more effort to debate an issue. Nicholas does an excellent job sifting through members and posts. Furthermore, you should notice that Nicholas doesn't feature any of my posts on his group.

Jay- Thanks for bringing up this very important new fact. For only being a Governor under 2 years, she sure has accomplished quite a bit.

Frankly it doesn't suprise me considering the lengths that the Republicans went to to have the investigation supressed. But is it big enough to change the election? If I were an undecided voter this would be it for me. She is applying for one of the highest offices in the Country, and well, under normal circumstances this kind of shit would not get you hired at McDonald's. But since water seeks it own level, I don't see this as changing anyone's mind in terms of the Conservative base.

Jay,  I've posted more than once, in a discussion on an Activerain blog, articles describiing how the right crushed the democratic gubernatorial candidacy of Upton Sinclair in California in 1934.CJR, Sept/Oct 92

"In the midst of the Depression, his EPIC (End Poverty in California) plan drew a huge grass-roots following. Sinclair advocated having idle factories turned into cooperatives and manned by the unemployed; public ownership of utilities; special taxes on large land holdings; and -- the clincher that brought Standard Oil of California, banks, insurance companies, realtors, and the major movie studios into the fray -- a state income tax on corporations.

The campaign that followed has been described by Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., as "the first all-out public relations blitzkrieg in American politics." Realizing that too much depended on the outcome of the election to entrust it to the state's feeble Republican party, business and industry leaders banded together and hired outside help....

....But even more important was the role of the press."

The Amerikan right loves sons of bitches like....Sarah Palin....they are attracted to them like moths to a flame. It is the allure of ruthless ambition. It is killing the country, Jay...

Jonah Goldberg          the Dick Cheney Fan Club."
June 26, 2007 I'M A LONGTIME member of a pretty select group: the Dick Cheney Fan Club. Chapters gather in phone booths, refrigerator boxes and, at the annual convention, we take up three whole booths in the back of a nearby Arby's.

Why do I like Dick Cheney? Because at a time when everybody talks a big game about how they don't like people-pleasing politicians who live by the polls, Cheney is pretty much the only guy out there who walks the walk. He truly doesn't care what people think about him. I love that......

Tucker Carlson invited Jonah Goldberg onto his show so that they could both giddily share their deep personal affection for Dick Cheney

....CARLSON: People hate Cheney on this visceral level.  What is so hateable about Dick Cheney?

GOLDBERG:  I have no-I really, I truly have no idea.  I like Dick Cheney, love to have a beer with the guy.  I think he is a smart, serious man in American life.  I think one of the things that bothers them is that he doesn‘t care.  You know, there‘s nothing-you know, the opposite of love isn‘t hate, it‘s indifference.  It drives stalkers and some hard-core lefties crazy.  He just doesn‘t care what they think about him.

CARLSON:  Have you ever seen Dick Cheney give a speech?  I mean, the contempt for the audience is palpable.  He doesn‘t, he doesn‘t-he tells a joke that‘s written into his speech, he doesn‘t wait for them to laugh, he just blows right through it.

GOLDBERG:  I know, I-see, I love that.  He looks like he should be eating a sandwich while he‘s doing it, you know.  I mean, it‘s just this sort of like matter-of-fact, eating lunch over the sink.  Oh yes, and by the way, here is my view of the world.  I love that.

CARLSON:  Every time he speaks, I have the same thought.  I can just see him yelling, hey you kids, get off my lawn.  I love it.  And I‘m glad to find someone else who will stand up for Dick Cheney.  You are almost-you‘re almost alone in this nation of 300 million..."

So, here's what it is, Jay... Sarah Palin "pleases", in a way that is symptomtic of the right's "GFY" disease....it is sociopathic, anti-American, but they all love it....it is the essence of George W. Bush, as it was with Reagan....IT IS KILLING THE COUNTRY!!

Posted by Ed Lefevre (angry curious sort) about 1 year ago

I think the women is very confused at this point. Though I am ready to see a woman in the white house she is not the one for the job. And, as for Cheney? Ya that's what the country needs a vice president who looks like he could be eating a sandwich over a sink while giving a speech.

The trooper ADMITTED that he tasered his 10 year old step son! He should have been fired with no discussion.

Sarah Palin re assigned Monegan, which was perfectly within her rights as Governor.   The only remaining questions arises because Todd Palin called and "pressured?" people.  Was he acting as private citizen Palin trying to have action taken against an abusive police officer or was he acting as "first dude" and wielding more power than private citizen. From what I have heard that is the finding of the report.  Not hardly damning toward Sarah Palin in my book.

Why are libs more upset about Palins actions than a cop that taserd a 10 yr old? Oh yeah, it's not what is politically convenient.  If the roles were different people would be screaming about abusive police officers.  A little consistency would be nice..

This report was a definite witch hunt. They found Palin abused power by not monitoring her husband's actions. Amazing what attempts are in process to take this ticket down. If Biden were a governor, and this situation were reversed, you wouldn't have heard about it. Go John and Sarah!

Posted by Lisa Friedman Central New Jersey Real Estate (Pinnacle Realtors) about 1 year ago

Lisa, please explain how it was a "witch hunt".....the "definitely" you prefaced it with seems over the top, because I've read that the investigation occured with the consent of 10 republican and 4 democratic legilslators, and that they were unanimous in deciding to release the results to the public.

Where are you getting information to influence you to post a "definite witch hunt"?

Posted by Ed Lefevre (angry curious sort) about 1 year ago

Yes, when the Obama camp sent over to Alaska 30 lawyers to find any dirt they could find on Sarah Palin. I think you could characterize this as a witch hunt.

Posted by Nicholas Goglucci, PA. (RE/Max ParkCreek) about 1 year ago

...and the ten republicans overseeing the troopergate investigation....the ones who all voted to make the findings of it public....they were in league with these "30 lawyers", Nicholas? Please explain how that worked.....

Posted by Ed Lefevre (angry curious sort) about 1 year ago

At least Obama and the "30 lawyers" Nicholas refers to, were diligent enough to conduct serious vetting of Sarah Palin, unlike John McCain!

Posted by Stewart Penn - Los Angeles Condo Specialist (Penn Properties ) about 1 year ago

Jay-- I couldnt care less about Troopergate, Charles Keating, Tony Rezko, or William Ayers.   And no one else should be distracted by these either.

I couldn't care less about McCain's chances of death or Obama's birth certificate.

If you were hiring someone to run your company and the company was on the verge of BK, you would hire the guy who could help you survive.

You wouldn't care about who he hung out with last year or who he fired in his last job and why.

Voters need to look at our greatest challenges and decide who they want to lead us.

We are facing the greatest economic challenges of our time.   Who do you feel has the ability to calm the markets, stabilize the banking system and bring back consumer confidence?

We are is desperate need to end our dependence on foreign oil.  Who will take on the oil companies, motivate the automakers and other obscene users and focus on this goal?

We are in 2 wars.  The one in Afghanistan is in disarray, according to military.   Regardless of what Obama and McCain argue about, the one in Iraq already has a deadline for withdrawal set by the Iraqis and US.   Who do you feel can get Afghanistan stablized and get the allies involved as well?

W has created a worldwide PR mess.  We have no true allies anymore with the exception of Great Britain and even they question us today.  Who do you feel has the ability to restore our standing as a respected world leader so we don't have to spend all of our own money and resources to protect democracy?

Of course there are many other issues.  Health care, moral issues, etc.  But these three above threaten our way of life.    We are broke.   We need fixing.

Who do you believe will help us fix it fastest and efficient?  Forget the distractions.  That's who you vote for.

Aaron ~~ IF we should not care about the credentials for our highest office, then why have qualifications? In that case why say that only natural born citizens can be President? Let's just open the doors and take applications form ALL OVER THE WORLD! Could you imagine the candidates we would be getting? THEY ARE IN PLACE FOR A REASON! Just like I said in an earlier post, JUST because of his (OBAMA's) association with these types, he wouldn't even qualify to be his own body guard IF elected as President! Shouldn't the highest office go by the same standards? If not why is everyone "beating" Sarah Palin up?

Posted by Kathy Fisher, RealtorĀ® Wise County Texas (Parker Properties) about 1 year ago

Kathy--- We should care about their credentials.

Senator Obama is a US Senator from one of our largest states.   He has the necessary qualificiations to be President.

I agree with you about Palin.  She is qualified to be a Governor.  She has the necessary qualifications as well to be elected to the Executive Branch as well.

Do I think she is ready to be President?  No.   Do I think Obama or McCain are ready to President?  Yes.

Once again, one of these guys will be President come January.   We all need to make our decision based on which of these candidates is best for the challenges we face.

Posted by Aaron Gordon, Home Loan Consultant, Las Vegas, NV (Home Loan Consultant) about 1 year ago

YOU are absolutely correct. HOWEVER, the way they have conducted themselves in the past and the choices they have made are ALSO a big concern with the choices they will be making in the future if given this position.

I am MUCH more comfortable with the choices of Senator John McCain than I am with Senator Barrack Obama, WHICH by the way.....is NOT the only name is has CHOSEN to use in his lifetime. WHY IS THAT? Another POOR CHOICE!!

Posted by Kathy Fisher, RealtorĀ® Wise County Texas (Parker Properties) about 1 year ago

Kathy--- You are entitled to your opinion.  I respect and honor your choice.  For whatever reason you make it.

However, I think its important we all understand with what we are faced.

In my opinion, we should be electing the leader most suited to face these challenges and tackle them.     There are 2 qualified men, each nominated by their party, who seek this job.   Its up to us to decide who is best able to handle it.  In my opinion, its Senator Obama.  In yours, its Senator McCain.

I can assure you of one thing.  Even though I am voting for Obama, because I believe he answers my three questions best, if the country elects McCain, he will also be MY President.

I will support him as I would have Obama.  I will hope I was wrong in my opinion and he is the one who can lead us thru our difficult challenges.

Congratulations Aaron.  You have spoken to a person who disagreed with you in a measured, and polite response.  It's sad to me, but, given the name calling by those who receive an opposing viewpoint, your response stands out.  Your comment that we should elect the person we feel is most qualified is the right on the money.  The person who is going to lead this country will need to unite us to overcome challenges every bit as great as the ones we faced during the depression.

The person for whom we vote is a personal opinion, and subject to unique characteristics: unique to the person holding the opinion. Calling people with dissenting viewpoints names will not allow us to come together to fix this mess: nor will it change the other person's mind.  It's time we all come together as Americans to collectively fix what ails us, and quit whining about things we cannot change.

Great comments. I too grow weary of the petty bickering over unimportant side issues.  Every man and woman should dig way down deep inside this year and let their conscience  guide them.

Posted by Trey Thurmond, College Station , Texas Homes (Classic Realty Associates) about 1 year ago

Tom and Trey--  Thanks.   I agree with you both.

The right to vote is something too many of us take for granted.   Too few of us even make it to the polls.

If you do vote, in my opinion, you owe it to yourself and your community or country, depending on the election year, to research and understand your selection.

"Obama is an Arab"  or "McCain is too old" is not, in my opinion, diligent research or a valid argument.   In fact its embarrassing.

It shows your opinion is based on mindless spam or what your "neighbor" told you and you don't care enough to understand what each man stands for.

Both candidates have terrific easy-to-use websites that detail their positions.

http://www.barackobama.com/issues

http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/issues

My vote is important.  Your vote is important.   Its certainly important enough to take 20 minutes and read what each man is proposing before heading to the polling spot.
