White Coed - "Black Man" Carving Hoax - Was it CREATED by McCain Campaign?

The proof that the McCain campaign created the hoax about 20-year-old, attention deprived Ashley Todd is not available, so perhaps I'm "jumping the gun" just like the McCain campaign.

According to several reports, McCain's Pennsylvania communications director disclosed very specific details about the supposed incident to John Verrilli, the news director for KDKA in Pittsburgh, at about the same time Ms. Todd provided the information to police. This would indicate that Ms. Todd was working directly with at least the state level of the McCain campaign.

So, what will the McCain/Palin campaign not do to steal this election?

Best regards,
Jay

Jay:

Just to give you a heads up.  What you are alleging are criminal acts by the McCain campaign.  You may be leaving yourself open by making accusations of this type.

You might want to reword your post.  I'd hate to see an AR brother go down for something he really didn't mean.

Jay - there's no doubt this young woman is sick - I don't meran medically by the way. Having said that I find it extremely unlikely that the McCain campaign had anything to do with this - so I'd tone down the rhetoric. You see there are nut jobs on both sides. Like the Obama person who said if Sarah Palin dared to go to New York she would be gang raped by a bunch of big black brothers. Do we lay that at the door of Obama and his campaign?

I can't wait to see how many "power outages" are going to happen in urban voting districts on November 4th.

The GOP will use every dirty trick in the book to steal this election...again.  They are pros at it with 2000 and 2004.  The only hope for a fair outcome is for the numbers to be so overwhelming that all the dirty tricks these scum try to pull off won't be enough.

Jay, I have heard it several times on the news today that the Mccain Camp called the Radio station and even made up things that the police have not even confirmed were said by the girl.

McCain Communications Director Gave Reporters Incendiary Version Of "Carved B" Story Before Facts Were Known

By Greg Sargent - October 24, 2008, 5:12PM

John McCain's Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established -- and even told reporters outright that the "B" carved into the victim's cheek stood for "Barack," according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

--it  is significant because it reveals a McCain official pushing a version of the story that was far more explosive than the available or confirmed facts permitted at the time.

The story with the removed grafs is still right here. We preserved the three missing grafs from yesterday:

Great post Jay, I agree what will the McCain/Palin campaign not do to steal this election?

Nicholas - You can bring up ACORN as much as you want....but you are comparing apples to oranges....or I guess acorns to oranges.

Voter registration fraud is LIGHT YEARS away from voter fraud, disenfranchisement of voters, and other forms of voter suppression.

ACORN employees were paid per registration they did.  Just because someone registers to vote, doesn't mean they vote...obviously or we wouldn't be in the toilet that we are in now....  The ACORN employees did a disservice, but it was to ACORN by trying to get paid for work not really done.

Now...if on November 4th, the worker at the polling station allowed someone without ID to cast "Mickey Mouse's" vote.....then people have a place to complain, but it would be to the idiot worker at the polling station that allowed "Mickey Mouse" to cast a vote.

Posted by Mike D about 1 year ago

As to the Post and the Truth that this girl obviously called or saw someone in the McCain Campaign and they called the news media and exagerated the story to win votes. That should stay because you are describing what has been reported in the news outlets. She was barely in the Police Station undergoing the interview when it hit the Drudge report.

Posted by Linda Mae McCannon (928) 768-3040 about 1 year ago

Mike ~ Stop the lying. The are more false votes by those ACORN workers, and you and I both know it. More information is coming out, they already threw out seven votes, 700 are questionable.

Recently there has been much interest in prediction markets. .... and several have been arrested and convicted for registration fraud, not voting fraud. ...

Oct 22, 2008 ... "...everywhere that ACORN has been seriously examined - from Indiana to ... There have been no known cases of people voting fraudulently." ...

Research into voting fraud by Barnard College in New York has turned up no contemporary cases of votes in an election from fraudulent registration. She found only two prosecutions for people faking others' registrations between 2002 and 2005.

I have researched ALL News and Election and Political sites and can find NO cases of someone showing up at the Polls and being arrested for  VOTER FRAUD

Posted by Linda Mae McCannon (928) 768-3040 about 1 year ago

Jay, I did just find a story by Republican Far Right Wing Reporter Michelle Malkin about 5 Democrat College students living in Ohio but not residents who got their votes thrown out yesterday for voter fraud because they don't actually LIVE permanately in Ohio but in New York.

NO charges will be filed because it has been found the Rhodes and Truman Scholars were simply confused about the voting laws of Ohio. Oh, by the way ACORN did NOT register them. DARN!

I will keep looking for more cases of ESCALATING FRAUD DUE to ACORN and report it as I find it.

"The proof that the McCain campaign created the hoax about 20-year-old, attention deprived Ashley Todd is not available, so perhaps I'm "jumping the gun" just like the McCain campaign"  I think that was probably the best statement in your blog, but I'm afraid the rest seemed to be a bit of a stretch.

Your level of speculation seems to be pretty high, but much like the results of the Tawana Brawley case that was debunked, you run the risk of looking like Al Sharpton: not very credible.  Sharpton couldn't wait to use the case as a political tool, and, once the truth came out, still kept insisting it was true: I don't believe the Mccain camp is doing that now that the story is known to be false.

If you are going to associate the girls efforts with the Mccain camp, I'm going to tell you that there is a rumor I heard that actually it was Bill Ayers who did that to the girl- that's what I heard anyway.  By the way, he hasn't repented for it either.

Posted by Tom Ash (Agentspayingforward.com) about 1 year ago

Tom,

I think what your missing here is that it was the McCain camp that called the story in to the News Media. Now I do believe they thought she was telling them the truth. No it was NO conspiracy that they were involved in any way. She went to the McCain camp with her lies and they had No reason to doubt her.

BUT they certainly did NOT hesitate to jump all over the story and call the media with it.

On BOTH sides of the campaign it seems people are Jumping out there WANTING these stories to be true to gain votes either way!

Posted by Linda Mae McCannon (928) 768-3040 about 1 year ago

Hi Linda:

I agree with you regarding both sides using any story to gain an advantage: politics has denigrated into something less than stellar these days.  However, I did see the part of the story relating the fact that Mccain's people called the media.

I was reacting however to Jay's statement: "This would indicate that Ms. Todd was working directly with at least the state level of the McCain campaign."  I would submit that kind of speculation is a little over the top.

With all of the hateful, bigoted, distasteful remarks found throughout these right wing groups about the Muslim faith.  With all of the slanderous, unsubstantiated, false accusations of Barack Obama's history and character found throughout these right wing groups. And certainly with all of the shameful, immature, venomous comments made by fellow AR members towards other AR members (and this is true for BOTH sides of this debate).......do you REALLY think Jay is going to get the boot for reporting something that the Pittsburgh Police Department is confirming to be more and more true with each press conference it gives on the subject?

Come on....let's have a good debate.....but let's all at least have the dignity and courage to not try to suppress the opposing side's thoughts.

Simply because you don't agree with something that is based on FACT doesn't mean you should call it TRASH.

Posted by Jay Allen - MovieVoice (MovieVoice Production Co.) about 1 year ago

Hi Jay:

I think the the term: "garbage in; garbage out" is appropriate here.   I would submit that Mccain's communications director could have done better, but none of us should follow up with getting into the gutter as a result of his malfeasance.  As I said, I thought your blog was over the top.  However, the beauty of this country is that you are free to write what you did - as I just did here.  Have a good weekend.

Posted by Tom Ash (Agentspayingforward.com) about 1 year ago

Tom, are you suggesting that blogs should not be written about malfeasance?

Peter Feldman, the McCain/Palin campaign's Pennsylvania Communications Director, attempted to, as someone else stated, "exploit the Ashley Todd incident into a racially divisive wedge issue in order to gain traction in Pennsylvania, a state they view as critical to their chances" of winning.

Posted by Jay Allen - MovieVoice (MovieVoice Production Co.) about 1 year ago

Fair and Balanced Fox News preached the "malfeasance" as the gospel. See for yourself - and at the end of the clip there is an interesting thought from Fox "News" - police are afraid of rioting if Obama loses.

Posted by Jay Allen - MovieVoice (MovieVoice Production Co.) about 1 year ago

Again Jay, I don't disagree with you that the communications director is guilty of at the least poor judgment for not vetting the story, and, potentially trying to exploit it for political benefit: you are right.  I also don't consider "Fox News" the gospel - the one I read is different.

However, if they reported a news story that works to the disadvantage of one candidate or another, as long as it is news I have no problem.  Do the research, and make sure it's accurate.  If they don't do that, it's propaganda.  If you know what they reported as false, you should do your best to disseminate the information.  If you don't know the item to be false, just watch CNN: I suspect you will see information more to your liking.

Now, having said that, when you post a blog with the incendiary title as you originally did, are you not doing the same thing you are accusing both Fox and the communications director of doing?   My point isn't to single you out, since many on both sides are doing the same thing: using everything they can get to gain political advantage.  I don't find value in either side using such tactics, and I don't think there actions should be followed up with more of the same.

Posted by Tom Ash (Agentspayingforward.com) about 1 year ago

WOW, I am amazed at how far the left goes to point  a finger, when as they are pointing a finger at the right there are 4 fingers pointing right back at them.

You make such a fuss about some sicko but do you ever even aknowledge when the left does something wrong, like those students trying to derail Sarah's motorcade or how about

the ABORT SARAH bumber stickers, I suppose that is OK and that is not either gender bias or prolife bias.

the Tshirts that say Sarah is just good to F&*^*! Or that Sarah is a CU^%. Those are worse than racial slurs, those are beneath contempt. Their is more gender bias than racial bias.

And how about Madana saying that the blacks are going to gang rape Sarah. I suppose the left would even NOT report that if it ever happened and if it did, they would say, she asked for it.

Those are double standards. And if you want to bring up race, in the military polls, all the way down the list, female voters, male voters, enlisited voters, officer voters, etc, all of them voted over 70% for McCain to about 17% to Obama until it came to the black members of the military, that was the only number that was opposite. And people say Race had nothing to do with this race! PLEASE! Katerina

Posted by Nestor & Katerina Gasset Realtors® Wellington Florida Luxury Homes (International Properties and Investments, Inc.) about 1 year ago

Katerina, there are countless anti-McCain/Obama/Biden/Palin materials out there with a variety of hateful words, expressions and images. This fictional "attack" made national headlines and was much different than t-shirts and protester signs.

If you don't believe me, then how about John Moody of Fox News...
On Thursday, Fox News Executive VP John Moody wrote - "It had to happen. Less than two weeks before we vote for a new president, a white woman says a black man attacked her, then scarred her face, and says there was a political motive for it." Moody went on to say "If Ms. Todd's allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists ... but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee." How could someone connect this fictional attack to not knowing enough about Obama?

And here's the best thing Moody stated...
"If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain's quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting."

Finally, if you really believe the comments about Palin are bad, listen to the comments of her supporters about Obama - What many are Really Saying about Obama.

Posted by Jay Allen - MovieVoice (MovieVoice Production Co.) about 1 year ago

Jay- I think that one woman's lies are NOT race baiting and if that is what people will say and believe than they are very ignorant and playing the reverse discrimination card.

Two wrongs don't make a right. What I am saying is that the left and the left biased media goes around printing and blowing out of proportion every thing that the republicans do, they are ALWAYS being called racist and that is WRONG. I am a republican and I am NOT a racist. Far from it. But I have been reversed discriminated against and that is OK? I have been gender biased and that is OK?

There you go again, pointing me to things that you can find about how Palin's supporters are talking bad about Obama, again, all the focus on Obama.  But you have yet to show us where the media has made a BIG deal over the horrid, sexual, disgusting things the left says about Palin. You think that is OK because someone says mean things about Obama? The Obama supporters did the same things to Hillary so it is a gender discrimination.

Every white person that does not vote for Obama will be called and is called a racist and every black person that does not vote for Obama is called a traitor to the black nationalist cause. Even like the great pianist who is black Christian who says he would love to vote for a black president but he must vote Christian first, black second, not the other way around. He is spit on for that comment.

There is no freedom of speech anymore if your are a conservative Christian. Katerina

There will always be foolish people who will resort to doing stupid things like this; and there will be foolish people who will jump at the chance to advance their careers if they thought it would help. And if race-baiting could get them there, they concoct such lies.

Does anyone remember when the Reverend Al Sharpton caused media uproar over the purported beating of a black girl by white lawmen who supposedly smeared her with feces and stuffed her in a bag?

After repeatedly hitting, kicking and threatening her (SOUNDS LIKE THE TYPICAL STORY OF THE BOY CRYING WOLF), Todd told police that the man carved a "B" in her cheek.
